Gołąbki means “little pigeons”. In spite of its meaning, it isn’t made of pigeon’s meat. It is a traditional polish dish consisting of a meat and rice filling, wrapped in cabbage leaves and served with a sour or creamy tomato sauce. Apart from being a popular family dish, it is also an essential item on the menu at all festive and community dinners. The cabbage rolls recipe comes originally from Latvia.
